HISTORY
It was in the 18th century that Grasse, a town of glove-makers, began to perfume leather with strong odours. The new profession of perfumer eclipsed glove-making in favour of the cultivation of perfume plants and the extraction of their essential oils for blending.
Grasse, an emblematic city and the Capital of Perfumery, has "the city's perfume expertise" listed as a Unesco Intangible Heritage Site since November 2018.
